Fred V. Peet

Fred V. Peet was born the oldest of four children and raised on the Peet family dairy farm in Cornwall, Vermont. He graduated from the University of Vermont, Cum Laude, in 1990 and received his Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School in 1993.

During law school, he clerked for the law firm of Conley and Foote in Middlebury, Vermont and for the Vermont Legislative Council. Fred was admitted to the Vermont Bar in 1993. Following graduation from law school, he served as the Campaign Manager for Lieutenant Governor Barbara Snelling in her successful 1994 reelection campaign. Fred assisted businesses seeking financing with the financial consulting firm of Savill, Bevin and Butler in Shelburne, Vermont.

In 1995, he opened the Law Offices of Fred V. Peet, P.C. concentrating on representing buyers and sellers of real estate and mortgage lenders. He has served as an agent for Vermont Attorneys' Title Corporation since 1995 and has been a member of the Vermont Bar Association since 1993.

Richard C. Maxson

Richard C. Maxson is the oldest of three children. He is a Vermont native and was raised in South Burlington. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science in 1987 from Arizona State University.

Richard attended California Western School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1993. Throughout his second and third years of law school, he clerked for the litigation firm of Larrabee & Loadman in downtown San Diego. After his admission to the bar, Richard joined the insurance defense firm of McMennamin & Bennett, in-house counsel for Cigna Insurance, handling mostly personal injury cases.

In 1997 Richard was admitted to the bar in Vermont, and opened an office in South Burlington. Most of his practice centered around criminal defense, real estate, and landlord tenant issues. He joined the Law Offices of Fred V. Peet, P.C. in 1998. Richard is an agent for Vermont Attorneys Title Corporation and is a member of the Vermont Bar Association.

Christopher M. Perra

Christopher M. Perra is the youngest of nine children, and was born and educated in Massachusetts before moving to Vermont to attend law school in 1996. He graduated with a Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School in May, 1999 and received his Master of Studies in Environmental Law in December of that same year.

During his studies at Vermont Law School, Chris interned with the Planning and Zoning Office of the City of Lebanon, New Hampshire, as well as with the State of Vermont Legislative Council. He also worked as an independent consultant researching real estate issues and assisting in real estate transactions for the Law Office of Fred Peet, P.C. and researching pharmaceutical, telecommunication and energy regulations and legislation for PM Industrial Economics, Inc. During the summer between his first and second years at Vermont Law School, Chris was employed as an elections adjudicator for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). He was assigned to determine refugee voting eligibility and conduct field investigations throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina to ensure compliance with voter eligibility and registration regulations in the months leading to the municipal elections of 1997.

Chris joined the U.S. Navy Reserve upon graduating from High School. He was last assigned as an intelligence analyst with the Joint Forces Intelligence Command, Unit 0193 serving as Chief Petty Officer in charge of the production department. Chris concluded his service in 2002 with the rate of Chief Petty Officer. During his service he was awarded the Joint Service Achievement Medal with oak cluster, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal. Email Chris.

 

Kevin J. Shortell

Kevin J. Shortell was born and raised in Belmont, Massachusetts. He is a 1991 graduate of the University of Vermont. He received his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 1994. While in law school he also received the American Jurisprudence Award in the study of estate planning.

In 1995 Kevin served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Susan L. Fowler, Judge of the Chittenden Probate Court in Burlington, Vermont. From 1995 until 2007 he was associated with Morwood & Morwood, a small general practice law firm in South Burlington, where he practiced in a wide range of areas with a focus on real estate and probate matters.

Kevin joined the Law Offices of Fred V. Peet, P.C. in April 2007. He practices in the areas of real estate, wills, probate and estate administration. He lives in Essex, Vermont. Email Kevin.

 

Brian J. Stark

Brian J. Stark is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He received his undergraduate degree in Urban Planning and Development with honors from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in May of 1999. Brian attended Vermont Law School, graduating in May of 2002 with both a Juris Doctor and a Masters of Environmental Law.

During his studies at Ball State, Brian interned with the Town of Fishers, Indiana Department of Development assisting the Planning and Zoning staff. Following his second year at Vermont Law School and throughout his third year, Brian clerked with the Law Offices of Fred V. Peet, P.C. conducting title searches and assisting in real estate transactions and joining the firm full time upon graduation. Brian was admitted to the State of Vermont bar in 2003 and the State of Indiana bar in 2005. Email Brian.
